Your dental benefits may work better together than you think. We’re here to help Peace Country families make sense of it all.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a federal program that helps Canadians access dental care when they don’t have private insurance. For many families in the Peace Country, it can work alongside existing provincial programs to reduce what you pay out of pocket.
Think of it as a way to fill the gaps that provincial plans sometimes leave behind. Especially for things like crowns, dentures, and certain preventive treatments.
The CDCP uses your adjusted family net income to determine how much of eligible services are covered.
Household Income Under $70,000
Coverage for eligible services
Household Income $70,000-$79,999
Coverage for eligible services
Household Income $80,000-$89,999
Coverage for eligible services
*Coverage applies to eligible services. Some services may have co-payments regardless of income bracket.
Alberta provincial dental benefits are helpful, but they often have limits. That’s exactly where the CDCP steps in—covering services that provincial plans might partially cover or miss entirely.
In some situations, if a treatment is only partially covered by the CDCP, the remaining eligible costs can be submitted through your provincial plan. That means you could double up on coverage and keep more money in your pocket.
We’re able to direct bill to both programs, and coordination between them is designed to be seamless—meaning less paperwork and less confusion for you.

Yes! The CDCP is a separate federal plan that can work alongside your existing provincial benefits. Applying for CDCP doesn’t cancel or replace your provincial coverage—it can add to it and help fill gaps. If you’re eligible, it’s worth applying.
In many cases, the remaining eligible costs can be submitted to your provincial plan (like Alberta Adult Health Benefit or DASP) after CDCP has processed the claim. Our team will help coordinate this for you so you get the most out of both plans.
Yes. One of the key benefits of the CDCP is that it covers a broader range of services than many provincial plans, including things like crowns, dentures, and certain preventive treatments. Coverage details depend on your income level.
Potentially, yes. The Dental Assistance for Seniors Program (DASP) and the CDCP can coordinate, and since both are administered through Alberta Blue Cross here in Alberta, the coordination is designed to be straightforward. Give us a call and we’ll walk through your specific situation.
The CDCP is based on your adjusted family net income as reported on your most recent tax return. If you’re not sure where you fall, your Notice of Assessment from the CRA will have this figure. You can also call the CDCP line at 1-833-537-4342 to check eligibility before applying.
