We’ve Done Invisalign Too. Here’s What It’s Actually Like.

If you’ve ever wondered whether Invisalign is actually worth it, we get it. There’s a lot of information out there, and it can be hard to know what to believe. So instead of giving you the brochure version, we thought we’d just tell you what it’s been like for us.

Here’s something you may not know: Dr. Woods is currently going through Invisalign treatment himself. And several members of our team have already finished and are now happily in retainers. We’re not recommending something we haven’t tried.

A few things worth knowing going in

Since we’ve been through it, here’s the practical stuff we’d want you to know before you start.

Invisalign works by moving your teeth gradually through a series of custom clear aligners, each worn for about one to two weeks before you move to the next set. Most treatments run somewhere between six and eighteen months depending on what needs to move and how far. You won’t see dramatic change overnight, but you will see it.

The biggest thing that affects your results is actually pretty simple: wear the aligners. The target is around 20 to 22 hours a day. You take them out to eat and drink anything other than water, brush, and put them right back. People who do that consistently see great results. It genuinely is that straightforward.

When you switch to a new set you’ll usually feel some pressure for a day or two. It’s not painful so much as noticeable — a reminder that things are moving. Most people adjust quickly and stop thinking about it.
